  1. I find Genesis 2:18 to bring up an interesting point because all through chapter one God comments that His creation is "good" or "very good" and then He say in this verse that "It is not good that man should be alone." As a woman, that tells me that I was not an afterthought or an addendum to God's plan but a solution that brought about the fulfillment of God's plan - I am a helper fit for him - completing him and able to help him complete the work God has given us to do.

  2. Absolutely. God had women in mind all along, he just needed man to realize he was alone.

  3. "Adam was created to work...what does this say to us?"

I'm reminded of two things I heard on the radio recently. James Dobson said God created men with an innate need to provide for their families. One of the KLOVE announcers mentioned a study that showed that only a very small percentage of people feel any passion about their jobs.

I can relate to both of those. I knew from the beginning that I'd never get rich doing what I do, but it can still be frustrating when it's hard to make ends meet. I'm fine with Lori being the primary breadwinner now, but I do wish I could do more to contribute to the family budget (that's a trust issue I've been dealing with a lot over the past couple of days).

As far as that study goes, someone once said, "find a job you love and you'll never work another day in your life." I need to keep reminding myself how very blessed I am to do what I do. I get to read cool books and talk with smart people about interesting things--and get paid for it. How cool is that!

  4. Robert,

I definitely understand where you're coming from. I struggled for a long time in Seminary while Meghan was making more than I was. Especially when Reese was born. But your faithfulness to follow God's call here, and your hard work in looking for a job while serving as an adjunct is certainly not going unnoticed by God or the people around you!
