Day 2: Genesis 4-5

Genesis 4:

v. 7 Does sin still exist like this? What can we do to "rule over it?"

v. 11-13 Why must there be consequences for our sin?

v. 15 Why does God protect Cain?

Genesis 5:

v. 1 Why remind us that God created man in His image?

v. 21-24 What's different about Enoch?

  1. Andy, did Methuselah die during the flood? And if he did, does that mean that his father's (Enoch)walk with God didn't have much of an effect on him (Methusaleh)?

  2. Interesting question... the text doesn't answer for us. He obviously dies during the year of the flood. Maybe it was natural causes, maybe he died because of the flood. We must remain silent where the text remains silent.

    I think it definitely does! That's why Paul tells us that anyone who sins is a slave to sin.

    As far as "ruling over it" goes, the phrase "flee temptation" comes to mind. If food is the issue, don't hang out in the kitchen. If it's porn, use filtering software and keep the computer where others can see it. And so on.
