Day 50: February 19, Leviticus 16-17

Leviticus 16:

This is the great day of atonement (Yom Kippur, if you look at your calendar in September/October).

How do the two goats act for Israel like Jesus acted for us?

Leviticus 17:

v. 7 How does God describe idol worship? Is this fitting?

v. 10-11 Does this mean no rare steaks?

    Lev. 17:7 - "How does God describe idol worship? Is this fitting?"

    He likens it to prostitution, which I think is fitting. Throughout the OT, sexual intimacy is a metaphor for Israel's relationship with God; when Israel strayed--as she so often did--she was described as an unfaithful spouse. Here, God likens idolatry (the selling of one's soul) to prostitution (the selling of one's body). The analogy works for me.
