April 3: Mark 6-7

6.2 - What do we see from Jesus here?

6.6 - What does this tell us of Jesus?

6.8-9 - Why?

6.43-44 - This certainly shows Jesus' power. What else does it show?

6.51 - What is the main problem for the disciples?

7.3-4 - What are the Pharisees basing everything on?

7.20-23 - What should be our greatest concern?

  1. 6.51 - What is the main problem for the disciples?

It's apparently hard-heartedness. I find the passive voice interesting. Both the NIV and ESV say "their hearts were hardened." How did they get that way? Did the disciples deliberately harden their hearts? Did God do it, as he did with Pharaoh? Or is this just the "generic" or "default" hardness that we all have as a result of the fall and our own sin natures?

  2. 6.2 - What do we see from Jesus here?

This reminds me of Luke 2:52--"Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man." The context is Jesus making the transition from boyhood to manhood; now here in Mark 6, we see the fruits of Jesus' growth into maturity.
