Genesis 45

v. 8 Who should this verse be harder on: Joseph or his brothers?

v. 18 What does this tell us of God's plan?

Genesis 46

v. 3 What is God planning to do in Egypt? Will this be a bed of roses for the nation of Israel?

    Yes and no. It's definitely a good thing in the short run, because Israel will be given enough food to make it through the famine. In the medium run, no, because the nation becomes so great that the Egyptians enslave them in order to keep them under control. But in the long run, it's yes again, because God leads them out of Egypt to take possession of the promised land. Sounds a bit like Romans 8:28, doesn't it?

  2. This entire story illustrates Romans 8:28. Because even in persecution and death, God has our best in mind.
